Metier Technologies opens a new chapter in its hydrogen story with the launch of Metier Technologies Europe, based in Turin, Italy.
It is a significant milestone for the team, giving Metier a stronger base in mainland Europe as it continues to develop practical hydrogen internal combustion engine technology, known as H2ICE, for commercial vehicle fleets.
Making fleet decarbonisation feel possible
For fleet operators, the shift to lower-emission transport is not an abstract ambition. It has to work on busy roads, tight schedules and demanding routes. Vehicles still need to carry the right payloads, cover the right distances and do the jobs operators rely on them to do every day.
That is what makes Metier’s repower approach so interesting. Rather than asking businesses to replace whole fleets at once, the company is focused on converting existing diesel trucks to run on hydrogen — offering a more practical bridge between today’s operations and tomorrow’s emissions goals.
A European base with automotive roots
Turin is a natural place for this next stage. With its automotive heritage, proximity to established manufacturers and access to a growing hydrogen supply chain, the city gives Metier a practical European base from which to build partnerships and support future fleet projects.
For David Caponi, Chairman of Metier Technologies Europe, the location is a meaningful one.
“Turin provides the ideal foothold to expand our European operations, connecting us with both leading vehicle OEMs and an emerging hydrogen supply chain,” he said.
“We’re already engaging regional partners to support fleet decarbonisation through repowering, helping operators meet emissions targets quickly and cost-effectively.”
Building the partnerships hydrogen needs
Hydrogen transport will only scale if the ecosystem grows with it. That means connecting fleet operators, hydrogen producers, refuelling partners and technology providers in a way that feels joined-up, commercially sensible and genuinely useful on the ground.

“Launching Metier Technologies Europe in Turin marks a significant step in building our presence across the mainland European hydrogen landscape,” he said.
“Our aim is to put the Metier name in front of as many hydrogen suppliers and fleet operators as possible, communicating a partnership model that delivers competitively priced hydrogen and diesel-level total cost of ownership for repowered fleets.”
From Turin to Hamburg
The timing is important too. Metier is preparing to showcase its latest H2 ICE vehicle and technology platform at Hydrogen Technology World Expo in Hamburg, Germany — a key opportunity to meet hydrogen producers, refuelling providers and fleet operators who are looking for credible, practical routes to decarbonisation.
It is also a useful moment to show how H2ICE could fit into the wider European transport conversation: not as a distant idea, but as a practical option for operators who need workable choices now.
What this means for fleet operators
